In almost all cases the data jack is found on a wall plate possibly shared with the telephone jack; the jack number is on a small label attached to the wall plate. IU Secure

IU Secure is the wireless network for students, faculty, and staff to access throughout the entire Chemistry building and Simon Hall. IU Secure utilizes WPA2 Enterprise (Wi-Fi Protected Access) for authentication and encryption.

AT&T Wifi

Indiana University provides AT&T wireless service to visitors free of charge on all campuses. IU students, faculty, and staff should use IU Secure. AT&T wireless is not available in the IU Bloomington Halls of Residence except for selected common areas; residents should instead use IU Secure.

Eduroam

The eduroam (education roaming) service, developed for the international research and education community, is a secure, worldwide wireless network access system that allows students, faculty, and staff from participating institutions (including all IU campuses) to access the Internet when visiting other participating institutions. With eduroam, you can connect to the network at other member institutions using your IU credentials.

A virtual private network (VPN) allows you to temporarily create or join a private network across an existing public network. It does so by creating an encrypted tunnel between two hosts while the connection is needed. This tunnel allows you to securely transfer information and to access remote resources.

With Remote Desktop Connection, you can access a computer running Windows from another computer running Windows that is connected to the same network.

MAC Address Registration

Before you can connect to the Indiana University network with a computer or wireless device, you must register its MAC address. Otherwise, you cannot receive an IP address from the campus DHCP service. The purpose of the MAC address is to uniquely identify each and every item on a network. Every computer has a unique MAC address.

This is a service to measure network connectivity from any device to the IU Data Center in Bloomington, IN. It allows individuals to quickly establish a baseline of network performance to assist with troubleshooting efforts. The browser-based tool supports test speeds up to 10 Gb from anywhere in the world.
