Political Activities
As a public institution, Indiana University receives tax exempt status under sections 115 and 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Signature Authority
IU is a large institution and there may be times where you are asked to sign a document on behalf of the University. Before doing so, make sure you have the authority to do so. Only the Treasurer of the Trustees of Indiana University and others who have been granted specific authority to execute certain documents on behalf of the University may do so. These documents include, but are not limited to, contracts, agreements, deeds, checks, notes, bonds, leases, stock powers, repurchase agreements for real estate and any other legal document obligating the Trustees of Indiana University or Indiana University.
